Brazilian heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira was pulled out from the main event of UFC 108 where he was se to square off undefeated Cain Velasquez to determine the next contender to fight for the belt.

“Nogueira got staph infection, bad, to the point now it’s in his bloodstream, and he’s probably going to have to be hospitalized and intravenously given the antibiotics,” White said after UFC 105 press conference. “It’s crazy,” White added, “in nine years of being in this business, we haven’t had this many injuries in one (full) year.”

While Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin are unable to perform, the future of the heavier division is uncertain and the organization has to work on another thrilling fight to the first event of 2010.

“This is my business; this is what we do. My job is to put on fights, and we’ll get some fights for Jan. 2″ the president said.
