Machida vs Shogun II: Prediction
The expectation for UFC 113 Saturday night show is huge because two of the most taleted light heavyweight in the world will be in action once again. The champion Lyoto Machida faces off Mauricio Rua and this isn’t just a rematch, it’s likely the fight of the year.
.
From their first match-up there’s a question to be answered: “Did Machida fight at his prime?”. Lyoto wasn’t moving around as usual and looked tired in some moments. Even so, he won rounds one, two and three with a slight margin and and the forth period was too close.
.
The truth is that Shogun was the first opponent to surprise Machida. Before that fight, nobody had put the champion in trouble and the Muay Thai expert allied aggressiveness and a perfect game plan for that occasion. But shall it be enough this time? Tough question, right?
.
I believe neither Machida nor Shogun will change their characteristics on Sat. It’s going to be another five round standing-up war in which Maurício Rua will follow his instinct to hunt Machida into the Octagon and the Karate master will be ready to counter attack the adversary. I see Machida holding the belt with a win by unanimous decision but won’t be astonished if Shogun takes the belt.
